What went down at the VBN Security Summit 2021

November 25, 2021

Last Thursday, we were honored to be participating as an innovation partner to the VBN Security Summit 2021 which was held in Amersfoort. This event aims at grouping various professionals from the security and safety field in the Netherlands all together to discuss different current and future problematics which may have an impact on security businesses. Therefore, this special day revolves around sharing knowledge and experiences.

As many of our partners, we used to participate to this event before the pandemic hit and did not miss the chance to do so now that things are a bit more normal. For us, this kind of event is not only an opportunity to learn more about our business but also to meet and connect with professionals with whom we may share a mutual interest.

With that state of mind, we installed our stand before the beginning of the event. Knowing that most of the people taking part were part of the same field as we are, and therefore, very likely to already know about our company, we mainly focused on presenting our brand new Incident Manager. To do so, we brought two screens to display videos, one about Sky-Walker, and one about the Incident Manager.

The whole day was split as such

9:30 - Opening word

9:45 - Lessons from the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken (part 1)

10:30 - How to protect our digital lives

11:15 - Break

11:30 - Break out session 1

             AI: advantage or danger?

             Drones

12:15 - Lunch

13:15 - Lessons from the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken (part 2)

14:00 - Break out session 2

             Security as a discussion partner

             Smart buildings

14:45 - Break

15:15 - Lessons from the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken (part 3)

16:00 - A criminal strategy session, is our revenue model future-proofed

16:45 – Networking

One of the main highlights of this day was the 3 parts narrative about Freddy Heineken kidnapping. To briefly explain, Freddy Heineken was a very rich Dutch businessman, and used to be CEO of the brewery Heineken previously bought by his grandfather. Unfortunately, Freddy was kidnapped by 5 men for 21 days in November 1983 until the astronomical ransom was paid to the kidnappers by the Dutch government. During the VBN Security Summit, one of the police officers active on that case, Gert van Beek, took the stage and talked about the different lessons learned during the operation to save the beer magnate.

Apart from the 3 parts presentation about Freddy Heineken, other security experts spoke up. Among them, Jaya Baloo, Avast chief information security officer, spoke about cybersecurity and how we can protect our digital lives while working at the office or from home, especially since we have been conducting most of our business behind our screens for more than a year now. Carlo van de Weijer, director of the newly established Eindhoven Artificial Intelligence Systems Institute (EAISI), also was one of the main speakers of the event. He obviously talked about his area of expertise which is Artificial Intelligence and whether or not it is a danger in the mobility and healthcare sectors as well as the challenges for the security field. Another expert to speak up was Erik de Jong. He is a security professional with more than 25 years of experience in the field of information security. He shared with us his point of view on past, present, and future ransomware. Lastly, Rinske Geerlings, awarded security consultant, talked about the role of security professionals in the broader security business strategy of an organization.

However, even though the different speakers did tackle many interesting and relevant topics to our business, we mainly focused on making Entelec, and Sky-Walker as seen as possible by the participants. Mainly during the breaks, participants came to visit our stand and to discover our Incident Manager. Those free-time periods allowed us to create some bonds with our current and potential customers. To us, this is what the event was all about, spreading awareness about Entelec and what we can offer to potential customers.

Healthcare is changing fast... Technology now plays a bigger role in how doctors diagnose, treat, and support patients. Among all innovations, Artificial Intelligence stands out as one of the most promising. Everyone knows AI is shaping industries like finance and retail, but in healthcare, its impact reaches deeper. AI helps doctors make faster, more accurate decisions, reduces pressure on staff, and gives patients better outcomes. From analysing complex data to improving hospital efficiency, AI is becoming a trusted tool in daily medical practice. The following sections show how AI supports smarter decisions, improves diagnostics, cuts paperwork, and helps hospitals deliver better care. AI strengthens care by supporting people and giving them the tools to act with speed and precision. Harvard even offers a dedicated program for healthcare professionals to learn more about implementing AI effectively in clinical settings.
