Intrusion Detection: An Essential System For Buildings

September 7, 2023

Introduction

To ensure their security, companies generally integrate video surveillance to manage video flows and access control to manage access with entrances and exits. These two systems give companies an overall view of their security.

Another system that must be considered and that is essential for improving security is the intrusion system.

This system can be combined with video surveillance and access control systems, enabling you to detect any type of intrusion and deal with incidents as quickly as possible.

What is the role of an intrusion detection system?

Intrusion is a system designed to detect an intrusion into an area or room of a building. The aim is to detect malicious activity by one or more individuals and to control their access at the time of the incident.

As you can see, the intrusion system combines perfectly with the video surveillance and access control system, because at the time of intrusion, the operator will be able to check, in a control room, whether the individual has access or not, and view the situation via the video surveillance cameras.

What equipment and technologies form an integral part of the intrusion system?

The security alarm

The security alarm is the basic equipment to be connected to the intruder system. Connected to the various detectors, this alarm will detect a person's movements and sound an audible alarm.

Motion detectors

Motion detectors are used to detect any suspicious movement by an individual. These detectors can be placed inside a building, in a room for example, or outside in a specific area.

Vibration detector

These small sensors, generally placed inside a building to detect shocks and deafening noises, will detect any vibrations produced by the movement of objects. In the event of an intrusion or attempted theft, the sensors will be able to identify abnormal waves.

Noise detectors

Noise detectors detect the level of noise in an area. In the event of an intrusion, the system can detect a high noise level.

Laser sensor

Frequently used in rooms with valuable objects, laser sensors will detect suspicious movement by emitting an emergency sound.

What is the solution for connecting the intrusion system to equipment and technologies?

The ideal solution for connecting your intrusion system to the various equipment/technologies in your buildings would be to use PSIM software.

This platform will enable you to integrate your intrusion system in its entirety (data, system points, etc.) and connect all the equipment, alarms and technologies in your intrusion system to your system.

The other advantage is that you will be able to combine your intrusion system with other systems such as video surveillance or access control to get a precise view of incidents that may occur at any time of day.

Your operators will be able to get an overview in just a few clicks, thanks to an intuitive platform.

For over 30 years, we have been offering PSIM software that can integrate all types of intrusion system and all types of brands.

Easy to use and intuitive, you'll be able to manage all the intrusions in your various buildings.
